Psalm 1:1-6
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. [2]
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates
day and night. [3] He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers. [4] Not so the wicked! They are like
chaff that the wind blows away. [5] Therefore the wicked will not
stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
[6] For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the
way of the wicked will perish.

Isaiah 55:3
Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will
make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised
to David.

Matthew 13:15
For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with
their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might
see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their
hearts and turn, and I would heal them.'

Matthew 13:3-9
Then he told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer
went out to sow his seed. [4] As he was scattering the seed, some
fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. [5] Some
fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang
up quickly, because the soil was shallow. [6] But when the sun came
up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had
no root. [7] Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked
the plants. [8] Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced
a crop--a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. [9] He who
has ears, let him hear."

Matthew 13:18-23
"Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: [19] When
anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand
it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.
This is the seed sown along the path. [20] The one who received
the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word
and at once receives it with joy. [21] But since he has no root,
he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because
of the word, he quickly falls away. [22] The one who received the
seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but
the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it,
making it unfruitful. [23] But the one who received the seed that
fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands
it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times
what was sown."

Luke 10:38-42
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village
where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. [39] She had
a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what
he said. [40] But Martha was distracted by all the preparations
that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't
you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell
her to help me!"
[41] "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are
worried and upset about many things, [42] but only one thing is
needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken
away from her."

John 8:31-36 (NIV)
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold
to my teaching, you are really my disciples. [32] Then you will
know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
[33] They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have
never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set
free?"
[34] Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins
is a slave to sin. [35] Now a slave has no permanent place in the
family, but a son belongs to it forever. [36] So if the Son sets
you free, you will be free indeed.

John 10:14-16 (NIV)
"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know
me-- [15] just as the Father knows me and I know the Father--and
I lay down my life for the sheep. [16] I have other sheep that are
not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen
to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

John 14:6-7 (NIV)
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No
one comes to the Father except through me. [7] If you really knew
me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him
and have seen him."

John 14:15-17 (NIV)
"If you love me, you will obey what I command. [16] And I will
ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with
you forever-- [17] the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept
him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him,
for he lives with you and will be in you.

1 Peter 5:8 (NIV)
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around
like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

1 John 4:4 (NIV)
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because
the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
