Step Two

Forgiveness of Sin

Now that you have Assurance of Salvation you may be thinking what if I sin? Will that mess up my salvation?

Lets look at a few verses

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 5:21

God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Romans 5:6-11

(6)You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. (7)Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. (8)But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

(9)Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! (10)For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! (11)Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

This does not mean that you are free from sin or the temptation to sin. What it does mean is that the penalty for your sins has been paid once and for all.

If a Christian sins, then what?

What has been lost?

NOT SALVATION. Many new Christians are afraid that sinning my cause them to lose salvation. This is not ture. Sinning just makes you like a child who does not listen to their parents. A child may do somthing wrong and cause the parent to be sad or unpleased but they are still the child of that parent. When we sin we make God unhappy, yet we are still his children. It is by Grace we are saved, not by actions.

Step Three
