Prayer Part IV
Pray with Faith
(SHARP): NAS Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped
for, the conviction of things not seen.
Point of View: We are to live the victorious Christian life through
faith. NAS 1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world;
and this is the victory that has overcome the world-- our faith.
Action Step: We must study the promises in order to have faith. NAS
Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by
the word of Christ.
Benefit: Living by faith will please God. NAS Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he
who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is
a rewarder of those who seek Him.
Key Point 1: We must ask in faith to receive from God.
Subpoint 1.1: NAS James 1:6 But let him ask in faith without any
doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven
and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man expect that he will
receive anything from the Lord,
Subpoint 1.2: NAS Matthew 21:22 "And all
things you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive."
Subpoint 1.3: NAS Mark 11:24 "Therefore
I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe
that you have received them, and they shall be granted you.
Key Point 2: Degrees of faith.
Subpoint 2.1: NAS Mark 4:38 And He Himself was
in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they awoke Him and said
to Him, "Teacher,
do You not care that we are perishing?" 39 And being aroused,
He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And
the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. 40 And He said
to them, "Why are you so timid? How is it that you have no
faith?"
Subpoint 2.2: NAS Matthew 8:25 And they came to Him,
and awoke Him, saying, "Save us, Lord;
we are perishing!" 26 And He said to them, "Why are
you timid, you men of little faith?" Then He arose,
and rebuked the winds and the sea; and it became perfectly calm.
Subpoint 2.3: NAS Matthew 8:8 But the centurion
answered and said, "Lord,
I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say
the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 "For I, too,
am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to
this one, 'Go!' and he goes, and to another, 'Come!' and he comes,
and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he does it." 10
Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled, and said to those
who were following, "Truly I say to you, I have not found
such great faith with anyone in Israel.
Key Point 3: Help those weak in faith.
Subpoint 3.1: NAS Romans 14:1 Now accept the one who is weak in
faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment
on his opinions. …4 Who are you to judge the servant of
another? To his own master he stands or falls; and stand he will,
for the Lord is able to make him stand.
Subpoint 3.2: NAS Matthew 18:19 "Again I say to you, that
if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask,
it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20 "For
where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am
in their midst."
Subpoint 3.3: We can increase our prayer effectiveness
by getting others to pray in agreement with us. Remember that in order
to pray in agreement you must pray to the lowest faith of the individuals
in the group. Consequently, if you went to pray for someone
that believes that God only heals through medical science then
you must pray that God would heal them through medical science
in order to agree (there are exceptions as the Holy Spirit leads).
Repeat Point of View and Action Step. Benefit: You
will stop limiting what God wants to do in and through you.
