Pray in Faith that Receives Grace
NKJ James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
NKJ Matthew 21:22 "And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
NKJ Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receivethem, and you will have them.
NKJ Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith believes in the completed work of Calvary. God does not have to send Jesus to the cross again when we accept the Lord as our Savior because the sin debt of the whole world has already been paid. Therefore, we ask God to pass the salvation that has been placed on the table before us. The same is true when we are praying for any need to be met in our lives.
NKJ Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"),
We have been redeemed from everything that Adam’s sin brought into the World through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. God did a greater work through the last Adam (Jesus) than Satan did through the first Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45). (See Deuteronomy 28:15-68 for a description of the curse of the law).
NKJ Galatians 3:14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
NKJ Hebrews 11:33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Through faith we receive the promises that give us Christ’s victory over the curse.
KJV Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
KJV Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
NKJ Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
NKJ John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
It is not a matter of having faith in our ability but rather having faith in His ability. Faith in the completed work of the cross.
NKJ Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
The “measure of faith” is not a quantity but rather the quantifier – it is the measuring cup for releasing faith.
NKJ 2 Corinthians 4:13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak,
We are to fill the measuring cup with the Word and then release the faith it contains through our words (Romans 10: 17).
NKJ Romans 4:17 (as it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations") in the presence of Him whom he believed -- God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;
This is not talking about calling things that are as though they are not but rather things that are not as though they were. To thank God for something he has not given us already in Christ, with the motive of getting God to deliver it, is what has been called “name it and claim it theology.” However, standing on the promises, although nothing in the natural world agrees, is demonstration of the faith of God!
NKJ Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
NKJ Romans 4:16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all
The reason we are to use our faith in Jesus’ completed work is to obtain God our Father’s grace.
NKJ 2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
An acrostic for Grace is:
God’s
Resources
At
Christ’s
Expense
Simply put, grace is God’s ability given to man. Grace comes to us by God’s mercy, which means that it is unmerited (unearned).
NKJ Matthew 18:18 "Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19 "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
We can increase our prayer effectiveness by getting others to pray in agreement with us. Remember that in order to pray in agreement you must pray to the lowest faith of the individuals in the group. Consequently, if you went to pray for someone that believes that God only heals through medical science then you must pray that God would heal them through medical science in order to agree (there are exceptions as the Holy Spirit leads).
NKJ Romans 14:1 Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things.
Remember we are trying to help and not hurt those of weaker faith.
KJV John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
If we abide in Jesus (not just visit on Sunday) and His words abide in us
(Not just Morning Prayer time). We can then expect to receive what we pray for; however, the Greek word for "words" here is rhema. This is not logos which is the Greek word representing the entire council of God. In St. John chapter, one Jesus is said to be logos. Rhema on the other hand is a subset of logos that the Holy Spirit speaks to us for a particular situation. Romans 10:17 states that faith comes from hearing rhema not logos. Ephesians 6 states that rhema is the sword of the Holy Spirit. Man shall live by every rhema of God and not bread alone. The bottom line is that we must abide in logos until we get rhema. Until we have rhema we have no faith. Many faith failures have occurred because we have based our prayers on logos instead of rhema. In these situations, it was not a lack of sufficient faith it was a total lack of faith. I repeat, there is no faith in logos only in rhema. You can pluck a Bible verse and start using it but until it becomes the verse given to you by the Holy Spirit, it will contain no faith. The better way is to study the entire Bible (entire logos) so that the Holy Spirit will have some logos in your heart to give back to you as rhema (the God breathed Word). Then you will pray with results!
How do we start abiding in Jesus?
Answer: First stop abiding in everything else and then start abiding in the living word - Jesus (logos that became flesh)!
How do we have rhema abiding in us?
Answer: First stop having everything else abiding in our lives and then start abiding in logos (the written word) until you get rhema!
How do you know when you have rhema?
Answer: You will know in your knower!
Definitions:
Logos: the entire council of God that represents His essence, including His thoughts, which has been written down to reveal the Heavenly Father. Jesus was logos that became flesh in order to show us His and Our Father.
Rhema: the God breathed (spoken) word that is for us in a particular
situation. It contains the faith to bring to pass whatever is promised.
