As you feel God leading you to do so, try one brief
fast, once per week, of two meals’ duration - for example,
skip dinner on Saturday night and the following morning’s
breakfast. If you have never fasted before, start off slow. The
body grows accustomed to fasting by degrees, and God does not usually
ask us to run before we have begun to walk, or even crawl.
I would recommend fasting on a regular basis with consistency in
regards to the day of the week and the meals that are skipped to
better discipline yourself and accurately evaluate your fasting
experiences with as limited physical variables as possible. Also,
writing down in advance when you will fast, how long you will fast,
what type of fast, and for what purpose God is asking you to fast
can help in keeping to the fast. Perhaps even telling one other
person or a group of mature believers for accountability to follow
through with what God is calling you to do.
