Day 28
Read: Matthew 5:38—48
If you are willing to have faith in God for
healing, for
salvation, for your daily bread,
Why can’t you have faith in God to pre-
serve you against the attacks of your enemy?
Why do you have to take matters into your
own hands here?
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves”
If you’re
going to live God’s way, then be con-
sistent.
What’s the point of going to church and
receiving the sacrament and giving to the
needy if you shift into a godless, evil
frame when it comes to those people who
hate you, abuse you and try to walk all
over you?
God’s way is to turn the other cheek.
“Bless them that curse you.
Do good to them that hate you.
Pray for them that despitefully
use you and persecute you.”
God is not sentimental
and weak when He commands
you to turn the
other cheek.
This is wisdom.
This is the only way that “works”.
When you consistently return good for
evil, you conquer evil.
(When you return evil for evil, Evil
conquers you.)
“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome
evil with good.”
