Day 25
Read: I Peter 5:5—11
Why
did Jesus die?
To save you from sin, death and Hell indeed.
But for what?
If you are saved
from damnation, what then?
Can you still go on thinking and living
like the child of sin you were before?
Jesus saved you not only from damnation
but for glory. That you might be like Him!
For what other
reason does He send His Spirit upon
us, but to raise
us up into His likeness——that we
might become
in our living what His shed blood
already declares
us to be: His brothers!
The first lesson--and
until we learn it, how can
we learn the
others--is humility.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit.”
“Learn of me, for I am meek and
lowly of heart.”
....not the humility
of “feeling” or pretense, but
the humility
of walking and living.
May His gracious
Spirit find a way into us that He
may teach our
stubborn wills to break before the
Wi11 of God
.....so that clothed in His humility we
may
with simplicity, and without
fuss, become servants one of another
and “each esteem the other better
than himself”.
